Bach 42BOF Stradivarius Professional Trombone
The 42B Just Got Better
For generations, players of all stripes have trusted their tone to Bach's omnipresent 42 series trombones. This model, the 42BOF, is a professional symphonic horn made with yellow brass to yield a timeless tone and plenty of treble detail. When the open-wrap F attachment is operated by a Meinlschmidt-designed open-flow valve, it delivers an open feel with a light touch of resistance for lightning-fast feedback and response. Like all 42s, the 42BOF comes with premium features, including a 1-piece, hand-hammered yellow brass bell with Bach's "bell free" bracing for more projection and clarity. On top of that, the 42BOF has a chrome-plated nickel silver inner slide and a yellow brass outer slide for speedy slurs and groovy glissandos. The 42BOF improves on Bach's legendary sound and playing feel.
Open-flow valve with open-wrap
Bach's industry-leading team of engineers and musicians has one goal: to deliver the best playing experience to as many musicians as possible. With that in mind, the team sought out a valve and wrap combination that would deliver the perfect amount of resistance without choking tone. The Bach 42BOF Stradivarius Professional Open-Flow Valve Trombone is the fruit of their labor. It comes standard with a Meinlschmidt open-flow valve and a redesigned open-wrap design. Together, the attachment and valve allow the 42BOF to retain the wonderful feel of an open wrap while simultaneously condensing the instrument's total footprint. The 42BOF trombone has a short-throw mechanical linkage for a direct feeling every time you engage the attachment.
1-piece, hand-hammered bell
Bach fitted the 42BOF with a 1-piece bell made of yellow brass. It flares out to an impressive 8.5 inches for robust projection needed in big band and pit band settings. The craftspeople at Bach hammer the bell by hand to ensure it delivers the sound that’s defined symphonic trombone for decades. Providing a cutting and resonant tone, the yellow brass also has a reputation for reacting favorably to a player's unique style. And the most skilled trombonists can even make their yellow brass horns sound brighter or darker to perfectly fit into any arrangement. For robust low end and clear highs, you can count on your 42BOF to get you there.
Bach: the professional choice
Often copied but never truly imitated, Bach trombones are the choice of players worldwide. Vincent Bach founded Bach brass in 1918 after a mouthpiece repair went wrong. By 1928, Bach introduced trombones into his lineup. Bach’s famous trombone designs stemmed from a combination of his musical know-how and his engineering talent. He successfully identified what he needed from a trombone and set about creating an instrument that could solve the unique issues experienced by trombone players — and he never looked back. More than a century later, Bach instruments are proudly crafted in Elkhart, Indiana, to the same lofty standards as those from the ’20s and ’30s.
